WATERTOWN/BEAVER FALLS- Janette F. Corey, 86, of Ives Hill Retirement Community, formerly of Beaver Falls, passed away on Tuesday evening, January 21, 2025 at her home.
Calling hours will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. at the Beaver Falls United Methodist Church, Beaver Falls. The funeral will be held at 12:00 P.M. following the calling hours at the church with Rev. Bruce Chapman and Beth Monnat, pastors officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janette’s name may be made to the Beaver Falls United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 66 Beaver Falls, N.Y. 13305.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Larry M. Corey; three daughters, Pamela (Robert) Hack of Clay, Dr. Julie (Christopher) Lapointe of Chaumont, N.Y., and Amy (John) Winslow of Lansing, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Colin, Carrie, Connor, Tyler, Tanner, Luke, Nicholas, and Charisse; nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by one sister, Edna Scott.
Janette was born on May 7, 1938 in Gouverneur, N.Y., a daughter of the late Wilmot J. and Audrey K. Foy Scott. She graduated from Gouverneur High School with the class of 1956 and then attended SUNY Oswego where she earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching in 1960. On June 11, 1960, she married Larry M. Corey at the Gouverneur Methodist Church. She taught at Bolton Landing for a year before the couple settled in Beaver Falls. Mrs. Corey then taught math at Beaver River Central School for many years, retiring in 1994.
Janette greatly enjoyed reading, knitting, and taking care of their home. She centered her life around her daughters and grandchildren.
Mrs. Corey was a member of the Lewis County General Hospital Auxiliary and NYS Retired Teachers Association.
