LOWVILLE- A graveside service for Francis R. Goutremout, 83, of North State Street, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday June 28, 2025 at West Lowville Rural Cemetery. He passed away on Saturday May 10, 2025 at Wynn Hospital, Utica.
He is survived by his sister, Ethel Petrus of Copenhagen; nieces and nephews, Jeffery (Lori) Snyder, Shawn (Wendy) Snyder, Jason Snyder, Brian (Amy) Snyder, and Todd (Michele) Goutremout, Tracey (Don) Motzer and son Tyler, Tamara (Drew) Villareale, and Timothy Goutremout and his children Ari and Trent; and several great nieces, great nephews, cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan; a brother, Phillip Goutremout; a niece, Jennifer Hoganson; and two brothers-in-law, Tony Petrus and Eugene Snyder.
Francis was born on January 15, 1942 in Lowville, a son of the late J. Everett and Mercelene F. Snyder Goutremout. He graduated from Lowville Academy Central School and enlisted in the United States Navy. Francis was honorably discharged and served the Navy Reserves. After returning home, he worked at Goodyear Tire in Utica, several local Lewis County farms, and then at the Lewis County Livestock Market in Lowville for forty years. Francis helped several cattle haulers over the years. He also could be seen shoveling sidewalks for various stores. He married Joan Herzig. She later passed away.
He loved animals, having coffee with his friends at area diners, sending cards and letters to his family in the Rochester area, making gifts to give away to his friends and family, and watching WWE wrestling. Francis was also an avid bowler.
