Floyd A. Campany

BLACK RIVER- Floyd A. Campany, 87, of Miser Road, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday evening, December 17, 2023.

A calling hour will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Todd E. Thibault, Pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Copenhagen officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Martinsburg Cemetery.  A luncheon at Rutland Fire Hall will immediately follow the burial, all are welcome.  Any food donations may be brought directly to the fire hall on Friday morning.  Contributions may be made in memory of Floyd A. Floyd is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gloria; Three children, Koreen (Neil) Freeman of Black River, Pamela Snyder of Quakertown, PA, F. Anthony Campany Jr. (Betsy) of Morganton, NC; six grandchildren, Whitney (Tyler) Elliott, Hayden (Carlie) Freeman, Samantha (Tyler) Lang, Nicholas Snyder, Lauren Campany and her fiancé Michael, Alyssa Campany; six great-grandchildren, Makayla, Kaiden, Rowan, Asher, Clara and Violet; his dear friends, Peggy and Lynn Murray, who he thought of as family; a sister, Esther Branche of Watertown; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Keagan Elliott; five brothers, Clarence W. Campany, Harland G. Campany, Bernard Campany, Glenn S. Campany, Robert C. Campany; and two sisters, Marion R. Sylvester; and Charlene Campany, who died shortly after birth.

Floyd was born on February 10, 1936 at home in the Town of Denmark, NY, a son of the late George H. and Almina Laribee Campany.  He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1953 and attended Cornell University.  Floyd enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1954-1958.  Upon his return home, he operated the family farm on East Road, Town of Denmark and worked for Francis Nichols at his saw mill in Deer River.  On February 11, 1961, he married Gloria Leviker at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Copenhagen with Rev. Bernard Desnoyers officiating.  He then went to school in Memphis, TN to be a Hardwood Lumber Inspector.  Floyd worked for Deer River Lumber Company as a Lumber Inspector for 22 years.  He later worked for Champion International for 14 ½ years until his retirement in 1998.

He enjoyed gardening and spending time in the woods.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
