CASTORLAND- Ezra J. Martin, 85, of Bowman Street, passed away on Saturday December 7, 2024, at Lewis County General Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 14 at Crystal Light Mennonite Church, Lowville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be at the church from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2024 and 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday before the funeral.
Ezra is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Olga Martin of Fayetteville, NY; three grandsons, Andrew, Anthony and Aidan of Fayetteville; his siblings and their spouses, Rosemary Wagler, Helen and Ron Devouchi, Mahlon and Sue Martin, Doris and Joe Robbins, Sharon Zehr, Joan and Stanley Widrick, Bruce and Sheryl Martin and Richard and Kim Martin; sisters-in-law, Carol Martin and Sue Martin; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Wilma on July 14, 2024; his siblings, Ralph Martin, Gilbert Martin, Norbert Martin, Elmer Martin, Clara Boliver, Geneva Rivers, and Elvira Martin; brothers-in-law, Edward Wagler, Andy Zehr, Lyle Boliver, and Gary Rivers Sr.
He was born on December 25, 1938 in Belfort, a son of the late Vernon and Katherine Zehr Martin and attended country school in Belfort. On April 18, 1981, he married Wilma J. Flaherty at Croghan Mennonite Church with Rev. Lloyd Boshart and Rev. Richard Zehr officiating, a blessed union of 43 years until her passing on July 14, 2024. Ezra worked as a woodsman and farmer throughout his life.
He was a member of the Crystal Light Mennonite Church. He loved and enjoyed reading his Bible and conversating with people around him.
