LYONS FALLS/TURIN – Duane G. Hoffman, 79, formerly of Lyons Falls and Turin, passed away Wednesday evening, August 20, 2025 at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, where he has resided for the past four years.

Duane was born on September 28, 1945 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Charles Gilbert Hoffman and Audrey E. Youngs Hoffman. He graduated from South Lewis High School in 1965. After graduating, Duane served in the U.S. Army for nearly two years during the Vietnam War, before being honorably discharged. He worked as a cemetery sexton locally years ago. He retired from Morris Protective Services, where he was a security guard throughout Northern New York.
Duane is predeceased by his mother, Audrey E. Young Hoffman who passed away in 1994; his father, Charles G. Hoffman who passed away in 2001; and a brother, Charles A. Hoffman, who passed away in 2018. He is survived by his very special friend, Clara Davoy and close friends, Linda and Murray Jantzi and their family.
Duane was a member of Turin United Methodist Church. He enjoyed taking walks, and he always smoked a pipe, and was known by many as the “pipe man”.
Duane’s friends would like to say a very special “Thank You” to the 2nd Floor Nursing Home staff of the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility and their specialized care providers for their loving care and kindness shown to Duane during his stay at the nursing home. He will be missed.
