Donald F. Busch

BRANTINGHAM- Donald F. Busch, 89, of Brantingham, NY passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of July 12, 2025 surrounded by family. He was born on January 7, 1936 to his late parents, Phillip J. Busch and Lorraine K. Busch (nee Winter) in Buffalo, NY. He is survived by his wife Susan Busch (nee Wendel), two sisters Joann Pautler and Sharon Zima and several nieces and nephews. Don and Sue had ten children between them… all of which reside in Western New York, South Carolina and Florida. Dawn (Al), Doreen, Mike, Kevin (Kathy), Keith (Susan), Daryle, Kelli (Russell), Missy, Denise (Joseph) and Alyson (Mike). He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and surpassed in death by his late grandson Tyler Busch.

Don lived life to the fullest and was a lover of the great outdoors. In his earlier years he resided in Alexander, NY where he owned his own excavating business. He was revered by his clients and well-known and respected by all who knew him in the field. Upon retirement, Don moved with his wife to Brantingham, New York where they had made several friends after many visits to their cottage on Brantingham Lake. He loved to snowmobile and 4-wheel through the trails.  You would find him on the trails in winter as he became an avid “groomer”. He was honored by the New York State Snowmobile Association as “Groomer” of the Year for his efforts. He was also a member of the Brantingham Snomads Club. When the snow wasn’t falling you would find him riding the trails on a 4-wheeler as he was also a member of the Black River Valley 4-Wheeler Club. When he wasn’t snowmobiling or 4-wheeling he would be hosting family and friends at camp or you would find him creating a working masterpiece in his shop from several parts that were laying around. In fact a few weeks ago he wanted to make his own air conditioner out of a pump, radiator, fan and a cooler full of ice.  He will sadly be missed by the many who knew him.

Don will be cremated and a Celebration of Life event will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don’s name to the Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral  Home, Inc. Lowville.
