HENDERSON-David F. Proulx, 80, of Short Road, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Lewis County Health System Hospital, Lowville.
He is survived by two sons and their companions, Darren Proulx and his companion, Katherine of Port Leyden; Chad Proulx and his companion, Cindy of Glenfield; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; his three sisters, Mary Ellen (Paul) Baker of Fayetteville, Dorothea Nortz of Niagara Falls, NY, Clare Owens of Tallahassee, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his children, Sherri Proulx, Davey Joe Proulx, and Renee Proulx; two brothers, Anthony Proulx, James Proulx; three sisters, Rose Bush, LaMoine Schwendy, and Jane Stinson.
David was born on May 14, 1943 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Edmond and Rose Chartrand Proulx and attended Beaver River Central School. A marriage to Marsha Illingworth ended in divorce. He worked in the woods logging; and later in Booville. He also worked on area farms. David enjoyed doing excavating work locally for many years. He then worked at Pajco, Lowville for many years, until his retirement.
David was a communicant of the former St Anthony Catholic Church, Indian River.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, boating and ATV riding. David enjoyed cooking, especially making pizza for his family and friends and hosting his famous pizza parties. He loved camp life and was and was an awesome storyteller.
Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on his birthday, Tuesday May 14, 2024 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville with a funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Bremen. A luncheon at the Lowville Fire Department will immediately follow the burial, all are welcome. Any food donations may be taken directly to the Lowville Fire Hall beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
