LOWVILLE - Carol Ellen Feisthamel Stoffel of Lowville, NY passed away after a brief illness on January 30, 2025 listening to music with family by her side. Carol was born on April 15, 1942 at Lewis County General Hospital to the late John and L. Marguerite Rauhe Feisthamel.
On August 3, 1963 Carol married her favorite dance partner Garland (Tony) A. Stoffel and they have remained devoted to each other for over 61 years through love and laughter.
She is survived by her four children James (Isabelle Toussaint) Stoffel, Sydney, Australia, Katrina (Carmen) Carbone, Dexter, NY, Amy (Thomas) Strande, Wake Forest, NC and Monica (Todd) Branning New York, NY; her grandchildren Carmen (Lindsey) Carbone, Joel Carbone, Mads Strande, Lara Strande and Xavier Stoffel and her littlest great-granddaughter, Amelia Carbone. Carol is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth Piech, Groton, NY and Mary McMahon, Gaithersburg, MD and many adoring nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by her brother Harold Feisthamel and sister Marie Grasse.
Carol graduated from Lowville Academy with the Class of 1960 and attended Mohawk Valley Community College. Later she worked at General Telephone Company as a telephone operator until they relocated to Boonville. She worked part-time helping run Bingo at St. Peter’s Church, as a Watertown Daily Times distributor and as an Election poll worker. Carol was a devoted member of Lowville Community Homemakers, St. Therese’s Guild and a participant in the local Red Hat Society.
Carol’s main passion and job was mom, Grandma Carol, child care provider and second mom to the countless children on Church St. and beyond this wonderful street. You could never enter the home she resided in her entire 82 years without the smells of baked goods and Carol offering up a seat, a plate, an ear to listen and always “free” advice. Carol loved being out and about with friends whether playing cards, at ceramics, attending the area school plays and music performances or at water aerobics. She was always the first to volunteer to provide her special made-with-love treats to a neighbor in need. Her life was one of selfless devotion and unwavering love to her family, her friends and her community.
