LYONS FALLS – Candi Lynn Sharpstene, 57, of Center Street, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at her home.
She is survived by the love of her life, Fred McManus; her two sons, Ryan Mathew Sharpstene of New York, NY, and Shaun Thomas McManus of Lyons Falls; her mother Rozina (James) Jessmer of Lowville; her brother, Jeremy Jessmer of Lowville; Fred’s mother, Mary Ellen McManus of Lyons Falls; an aunt, an uncle, many cousins, and the entire extended McManus family. She is predeceased by Fred’s father, Tom McManus and Fred’s brother, Doug.
Candi was born on June 9, 1968 in Watertown, NY. A child of Lewis County, she graduated from Lowville Academy in 1986. She later graduated from Canton ATC in 1988 with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration.
She worked for hotels, restaurants and bars around both Lewis and Jefferson counties, including: Benny’s Steak House, Around the Corner, Country Bob’s, Central Hotel, and McManus’ for over 22 years. Together with Fred, she managed the Lewis County Senior Nutrition Program meal sites.
A lover of sports, Candi golfed with the Tuesday night women’s league at Brantingham Golf Course and bowled with the co-ed league in Lyons Falls. She was a devoted South Lewis Falcons fan — where her two sons attended school. She also loved attending concerts of rock bands from 1970s and 1980s, and Broadway productions in both Utica and New York City.
Candi’s favorite place to be was with her family at camp on Brantingham Lake. She enjoyed vacationing along the St. Lawrence Seaway and in the Adirondacks, especially in Lake George and Lake Placid. Most of all, she was an animal lover, caring for her beloved dog, Sparky, like a third son.
Candi despised hate of any kind — impressing upon her two sons the values of authenticity, community, and tolerance. She believed life, no matter how long or short, should be lived to the fullest.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday February 5, 2026 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, with a private family service after.
