CASTORLAND- Calvin J. Yousey, 54, of the Ridge Road, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Lewis County General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Naumburg Mennonite Church. Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the church. Spring burial will be in Naumburg Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Calvin’s name to the River Valley Mennonite School, P.O. box 141, Castorland, NY 13620.
Calvin is survived by his parents, Herbert and Edith; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynette (Bruce) Hartzler of Castorland and Angela (Larry) Noftsier of Castorland; nephews, Philip, Ryan, and Derek Hartzler, a niece, Rebekah Hartzler; and nephews, Landon and Blake Noftsier; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by one niece, Katelyn Rose Noftsier; four special uncles, David and Norman Yousey, Herbert Robertson, and Ed Lyndaker; and one special aunt, Violet Kennell.
Calvin was born in Lowville on September 16, 1970, the son of Herbert and Edith Lyndaker Yousey. He graduated from South Lewis Central School in 1992. Calvin attended Senior Day Hab in Lowville.
He enjoyed cleaning and was very particular. Calvin loved bowling and swimming when he was younger. More recently he loved to do construction paper projects with markers, glue, and shears. Above all, Calvin loved and enjoyed his family and church family. He was known for giving big hugs and shaking hands with everyone.
