Brent Walsemann Obituary

CROGHAN- Brent M. Walsemann, 78, of Old State Road, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday June 4, 2025 at home surrounded by family.

There are no calling hours.  A funeral service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, with Pastor Wayne Arnold officiating.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 51 years, Vicky; five children, Brent A. Walsemann, Misty (William) McNeely, Stacey Walsemann (Brendon Hammond), Sarah (Jeremiah) Roggie, and Amy (Travis) Washburn; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his siblings, Avis Honer, Brenda O’Donnell, and Kevin Walsemann; and several nieces and nephews.  Brent was predeceased by one sister, Joyce Halko.

He was born on May 2, 1947 in Carthage, a son of the late Milton L. and Eva B. Meister Walsemann.  Brent attended country school and later Carthage High School where he graduated from with the class of 1965.  Following graduation he joined the United States Army, serving for three years.  After his discharge, Brent worked at Climax Manufacturing for a brief time before going to work for the New York State Department of Transportation in Watertown as a mechanic.  On October 6, 1973, he married Vicky J. Devine in Watertown.  Later, he transferred to the New York State Department of Transportation Building in Lowville as a mechanic, where he ultimately retired from in 2002.

Brent enjoyed spending time at the couple’s cottage at Pillar Point, hunting, fishing, being outside, and flying his airplane.  He had a gift for music, as he was a self-taught musician, playing by the sounds he heard.  Brent also enjoyed playing the fiddle, guitar, banjo, piano, and any other musical instrument that he could get ahold of.  He was especially fond of Bluegrass music and played with the Black River Valley Fiddlers for many years.  Above all else, Brent enjoyed the time spent with his family.

Brent loved God and was constantly reading the Bible.  He was always a go-to for anyone in the family at any time.
