Beulah Ann Beller

CARTHAGE- On March 15, 2026 Beulah Ann Beller had her greatest desire fulfilled; her Lord and Savior called her home at the age of 96.  Born at home on the Strickland Farm in Carthage, she was the daughter of the late John and Ione Noftsier Roggie. 

Beulah attended the Riverbank School at the Squash Hole on Rt. 126 for her first 10 years and went on to graduate from West Carthage High School in 1948.  After graduation, she worked for the C J Reeder family in Carthage as their cook and household helper until her marriage to Thomas Joseph Beller on August 23, 1951.

Thomas and Beulah purchased and operated the Beller family farm on Route 126 from Thomas’ uncle, Alvin Beller, in 1951.  They also purchased and operated a maple sugar bush from Thomas’ uncle, Charles Wilcox, on Rt. 812 in the town of Diana.  Everyone enjoyed Beulah’s home cooked meals after working in the sugarbush.  When they sold their farm to their son Glenn and his wife Emily, Thomas began Beller’s Logging.  He sold the logging business to son Gary and his wife Diane.  He continued with his excavating and snow removal businesses; Beulah was the bookkeeper.

          Beulah was a charter member of the Naumburg Mennonite Church and faithfully served the Lord Jesus Christ having accepted Him as her Lord and Savior as a young teen.  Her passions were teaching and cooking.  Many persons have been blessed with her fried cake donuts, cookies, and casseroles.  Many members of the Naumburg congregation would receive a phone call from Beulah on their birthdays reminding them how much she appreciated them.  She loved children and counted it a privilege to teach Vacation Bible School and Sunday School children throughout the years.  For several years Beulah was the Home Economics Food Preparation teacher at River Valley Mennonite School.  It gave her great joy to help sew and tie comforters with the Riverview Ladies Sewing Circle.  Additionally, she was a leader for the Riverbank Rock’n’Rollers 4-H club in the 60’s and early 70’s.

          Surviving are her husband of 74 1/2 years, Thomas Beller; one daughter and son-in-law Joan & Carlton Widrick of Castorland, two sons and daughters-in-law Glenn & Emily, Gary & Diane of Carthage; sister, Arlene Widrick, Sister-in-law Mary Ellen Roggie, Brother and sister-in-law Nevin and Lorraine Beller, 10 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.  She was a prayer warrior, praying for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren by name each day. Predeceased by parents, brothers Niles, Willbur, Elton, Sister-in-laws Diane Roggie Gingerich,  Evelyn and husband Phil Virkler.

          Calling hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Naumburg Mennonite Church.  The funeral will follow calling hours at 12:00 p.m.  Spring burial will be in Naumburg Mennonite Cemetery.  To continue Beulah’s legacy of teaching children, she has requested donations in her memory be sent to: River Valley Mennonite School, c/o Mrs. Karlene Zehr, Treasurer, 5459 Naumburg Lane, Castorland, NY  13620.Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
