LOWVILLE- William Samsa, 89, formerly of Campbell Street, died Wednesday evening, February 28, 2018 at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. on March 5, 2018 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. Spring burial will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. prior to the prayer service, at the funeral home.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Sophie Samsa of Lowville; three nieces, Millie and Todd Doty, Sandy and Burt Halladay, Debbie and James Toman; three nephews, Bob Samsa, Stanley and Marcia Samsa, and Edward Samsa; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He is predeceased three sisters, Olga Izsanyi, Sylvia Samsa and Virginia Marcucci; and two brothers, Edward and Robert A. Samsa.
Mr. Samsa was born on January 4, 1929 in West Virginia, a son of the late Anthony and Antonia Prudic Samsa. He attended country school in Watson and General Martin High School, Glenfield. He worked as a papermaker for J. P. Lewis Mill in Beaver Falls, NY until he retired. William loved to
deer hunt and spent many years tenting in the Mount Tom area. He was a very avid fisherman in the Independence River and loved spending time at Stony Lake. He also enjoyed snowmobiling.
William was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville.
