William Raymond Obituary

GLENFIELD-  William L. “Bill” Raymond, 84, of Sand Pond Road, Glenfield, passed away on Sunday January 27, 2019 at his home.

A funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville with Rev. Jay Seymour, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will be held privately by the family.  There will be no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen; four children and their spouses, Michael and Janette Raymond, Cynthia Robbins, Christina and Scott Woolschlager, all of Sand Pond; Andrew and Christine Raymond of Sackets Harbor; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, June Raymond of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by a sister, Jean Raymond and three brothers, Robert, Richard and Allan Raymond.

Bill was born November 20, 1934 in Lowville, a son of the late Leo F. and Corrine I. Prue Raymond.  He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1952 and went to work for the Journal & Republican as a printer from 1952-1966.  From 1952 to 1955, he served in the Navy Reserves.  On October 13, 1956, he married Helen Kerfien at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan with Rev. Louis Hamm officiating.  From 1966 to 1999, he worked at Beaverite Products in Glenfield and later in Beaver Falls, until his retirement.  He was a fireman for Lowville and 3 G fire departments and was a Scout Master from 1968-1972 for Troop 62.  He enjoyed woodworking and home renovations.  He also enjoyed sitting on the porch with family and friends.
