Terrence Mostyn Sr. Obituary

LOWVILLE – Terrence W. Mostyn, Sr., 92, of McPhilmy Road passed away Saturday evening, December 14, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Utica.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Victor Vejile of The Philadelphia Church of God officiating.  Burial will be in Beaches Bridge Cemetery, Watson in the spring.   

Terrence was born on March 7, 1927 in Jersey City, NJ, a son of the late Robert V. and Rebecca Ertle Mostyn.  He attended school in North Bergen, NJ, joining the U.S. Navy in 1945,  after his honorable discharge, he worked as a truck driver for several local companies before retiring from the Point Pleasant School System, as head custodian.

On April 14, 1951, he married Bernice E. Brennan at St. Joseph’s Church in West New York, NJ.  They raised five children together in North and South Jersey before following their brood to the North County to retire.

Terrence is survived by four children, Terence Jr. and his wife Joann of Glenfield; Donald Mostyn and his wife Kathie of Lowville; Raymond Mostyn and his wife, Robin of Lowville; Bernice “Bunny” Perkins of Lowville; a son-in-law, Charles Gazzillo of NV; a sister Muriel and her husband Edward Radhuber of North Carolina; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren with one on the way; nieces, nephews and cousins.  Terrence is predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Bernice; a daughter, Kathleen B.
Gazzillo; a son-in-law, William M. Perkins; and three brothers, Robert , William; and Arthur Mostyn, who died at birth.

Terrence was a gifted in music, playing several instruments, but loved his guitar, singing and yodeling.  After retiring, he took horseback riding lessons, and enjoyed his horse “Smokey”.  He was an avid boxing, baseball and western movie fan and enjoyed long rides and dining out.
