Rose McBain Obituary

WATSON- Rose M. Raymond McBain, 89, of Number Four Road, Lowville, died on Friday afternoon, April 19, 2019.

A Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Pine Grove Community Church with Pastor Evan Zehr, Officiating. Burial will follow at the Beaches Bridge Cemetery, Lowville, NY.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Grove Community Church, in c/o Kathy Baxter, 6124 Chase Lake Road, Glenfield, NY 13343, or Friends of Lewis County Hospice PO Box 266 Lowville, NY 13367, or The Lewis County Human Society, P.O. Box 682 Lowville, NY 13367.

She is survived by three children, Bernie Raymond of Watson; Joseph Raymond; New Smyrna Beach, FL; Bev and Terry Dunn of Watson, NY; four grandchildren, Shawn Raymond, Eric Raymond; Alex and Sonya Dunn; and Miranda Dunn; four great- grandchildren; Hannah, Shyla, Luke, and Isabelle Raymond.

She is predeceased by a grandson, Brian L. Raymond.

Rose was born on August 17, 1929 in New Paltz, NY, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel Morgan Ratigan.  On June 10, 1957 she married George Raymond in Garnerville, NY.  The family moved to Lewis County in November 1972 where they owned and operated Independence Park Campground of Glenfield, NY for several years. Mr. Raymond died in August 17, 1978. Rose worked as Nurse’s Aide for Lewis County General Hospital from 1974-1982, when she retired.  She later married Ralph McBain.  He died on October 16, 1996. She enjoyed watching birds, having lunch at Lloyd’s of Lowville, playing cards, and dancing. Rose was a huge baseball fan. She later enjoyed the companionship of Charles Hulbert.
