Peter Kriwox

March 29, 1943 ~ February 17, 2019 (age 75)

GREIG- Peter Kriwox, 75, of Greig Road, died Sunday morning, February 17, 2019 at his home, surrounded by loved ones, under the loving care of his family and Lewis County Hospice. 

In keeping with his wishes, there will be a private funeral service at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. Burial with Military Honors will be in the spring at Brantingham Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greig United Methodist Church, In C/O Joan Loper, 4222 Lyons Falls Road, Lyons Falls, NY 13368.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 53 years, Janet; three daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Dennis Pawlicki of Adams Center, Lou Anne and David Sauveur of Watertown, Kelly and Randy Moore of Constableville; five granddaughters, Jan, Sara, Cassandra, Chelsey and Kate; and a great-grandson, Liam Peter; his siblings, Louise Hulbert and her companion Ray of Brantingham, Eva VanZandt of Glenfield, Samuel and Linda Kriwox of Lowville, and Gary and Kathy Kriwox of Alexandria Bay; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his siblings, Charles Carbino, Joseph Kriwox, Donald Kriwox, Pauline Salmon, Albert Dumas, Nellie Grabb, Ruth Cobb, Steven Kriwox, Theresa Sweeney, John Kriwox, Sylvia Chennell, Amanda R.A. Blades; and Eric, Paul and Myrtle Kriwox, who died in infancy.

Peter was born on March 29, 1943 in Lowville, New York a son of the late John and Eva M. Carbino Kriwox and attended General Martin High School. Mr. Kriwox then moved to Massena, NY where he was employed by Harold Norton as an apprentice in masonry, and then worked for Massena Federal Housing.  In 1964, he joined the Army Reserve doing his basic training at Fort Dix, N.J.  He then went to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he worked as a Heavy Equipment Engineer.  In November, 1964, Peter left Massena and came back to Lewis County.  On September 4, 1965, he married Janet Vienneau at the Lewis County Court House with Judge George Davis, officiating.  Peter was employed at Lyons Falls Paper Mill as a machine tender for 36 years, until the mill closed in 2001.  Peter was a caretaker alongside Gary Levesque at Bisby Lake in Old Forge, NY.  Peter last worked for the Town of Greig as custodian/caretaker at the Greig Town Park and Town of Greig offices.

Peter attended the Greig United Methodist Church, where he was active and volunteered whenever needed.  He was a skilled carpenter and sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed bowling and was an avid New York Yankees fan.  Most of all, he was a true family man.
