LOWVILLE – Norman E. Yousey, 77, of Brookside Senior Living Community, Lowville, formerly of NYS Route 410, Castorland, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at University Hospital, Syracuse.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Naumburg Mennonite Church.  Private burial will be in Naumburg Mennonite Cemetery.  Calling hours are from 1 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the church.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  Contributions may be made to River Valley Mennonite School, P.O. Surviving are his wife of over 50 years, Betty; his children, Julie Y. and Myron Roggie of Castorland; Janet E. and David Haldeman of Carthage; Daniel N. and Danette Yousey of Goshen, Indiana; his grandchildren, Elissa and Nathan Roggie, Ruth, Paul, Jacob and Joel Haldeman, and Jonathon and Andrea Yousey.  They were the joy of his life.  He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Violet and Mark Kennell of Sarasota, FL; Joan Robertson of Toledo, Ohio; David and Marie Yousey of Castorland; Herbert and Edith Yousey of Castorland; Sarah and Dale Lyndaker of Lowville; Florence and Gene Zoll of Stevens, PA; Eva and Gary Williams of Maiden, North Carolina; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He is predeceased by a son, Paul Daniel Yousey, who died shortly after birth on January 12, 1972; a grandson, Darrin Myron Roggie, who died on May 30, 1999; and a brother-in-law, Herbert Robertson.

Norman was born on January 13, 1940, at home in the Town of Denmark, NY, a son of the late Ezra and Marion Moshier Yousey.  He attended grade school in Castorland, Lowville Academy, and graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School, Harrisonburg, Virginia.  After completing high school, he worked on the family farm.  On May 14, 1966, he married Betty Lou Widrick at Lowville Mennonite Church with Rev. Richard Zehr, officiating.  In 1972, he formed a farm partnership with his brother, Herbert Yousey.  In 1991, he got his trucking license and left the farm in 1992.  He drove for various trucking companies until his retirement in November, 2003.  Norman accepted Christ as his Savior at age 10, and loved and served his Lord all of his life.  He was a member of Naumburg Mennonite Church where he was involved as an elder/church council member, Sunday School teacher, and in various other capacities.  He had a heart for the Christian education, and he and his wife were also very foundational in the beginning of River Valley Mennonite School, which they have supported and involved themselves throughout the years.  He also enjoyed reading, traveling, cutting wood, and spending time with his family.  He loved people, especially children.
