Matthew Shane Young

LOWVILLE- Matthew Shane Young, 49, of State Route 12, Lowville, passed away on Saturday evening, June 5, 2021 at his home, under the loving care of his partner and family.

Matt is survived by his son, Anthony (Danielle) Young and their daughter Daisy Ann; his loving partner of 20 years, Tina Zehr, and her family; his parents Prescott and Pat Young; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Steven and Heather Young and their two daughters Carin and Caylee; and Jason Young; a half-brother Don Fox and his companion Lyndi, and Don’s two children Ashley and Daniel and Ashley’s 3 children; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and tons of friends. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Vilous and Lucille Stiles; paternal grandparents, Emmett and Frances Young; three uncles, Randy Young; Emmett Young; and Raymond Stiles; and two aunts, Bonnie Chapman; and Ciny Young.

Matt was born on December 8, 1971 at Little Rock Airforce Base, Arkansas, as the oldest son of Prescott and Patricia (Stiles) Young.  He graduated from South Lewis Central School in 1990 and worked on the family farm until 1991. He then worked as a welder out of the area for several years. Once he returned to the area he worked for Cardinal Construction of Dexter, NY until going to work for Kraft in Lowville in the maintenance department as a Master Welder until his illness. 

Matt lovingly referred to as Father Young, was an honorary member of the Pine Creek Hunting Club, Cedar Swap Hunting Club, and Ducks Unlimited. He loved hunting turkey and deer, and used his passion and expertise to guide the youth pheasant hunt for several years. He also taught a youth welding program through 4-H. Father Young loved Monster Jam, Truck and Tractor Pulls and Rock-N-Roll. In fact, he started rocking to his favorite band KISS when he was in diapers. He was such a rocker, Ted Nugent personally told him that he was an All American Shitkicker. Though Father Young had many hobbies and interests the thing he loved most was to crack a cold one with his friends and family.
