TURIN – Joanne L. D’Ambrosi, 74, of NYS Route 26, died Tuesday morning, December 24, 2019 at the Lewis County General Hospital.

A Funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville, with Rev. James Seymour, officiating.  Calling hours will be Friday, December 27, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville.  Spring burial will be in the Old Glendale Cemetery.  Per the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the B. Elizabeth Strong Memorial Library, 6312 East Main St., Turin, NY  13473; or to DaVita Dialysis at Lewis County General Hospital, 7785 N. State Street, Lowville, NY 13367 or to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, PO Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.

She is survived by a son, Patrick D’Ambrosi and his companion Lynnette Parker and her two sons, Ethan and Jarrett, of Turin, a daughter, Kristiane and her husband, John Bauer of Marcy, NY; a sister Mary Frances Waligory of Lowville; two grandchildren, Courtney D’Ambrosi and Evan Bauer; and nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Santo J. “Sam” D’Ambrosi, and by a sister, Jane Lamb.

Joanne was born in Lowville, NY, on November 29, 1945, a daughter of the late Harold Joseph and Bernice Claus Peterson Lee.  She graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1963 from General Martin Central School.  After graduation, Joanne went to work in the office at Georgia Pacific in Lyons Falls, and worked in the office at Snow Ridge, where she met her husband.  On June 11, 1966, she married Santo J. “Sam” D’Ambrosi at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville.  Together with her husband, they owned and operated a popular establishment in Turin, The Crossroads Restaurant until 1976.  Joanne worked for Kristin International until 1986, when she went to work at Phase 4 Builders in Turin for many years until her retirement.

Joanne was a communicant of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville, where she was a member of the St. Hedwig’s Society.  She was a valuable member of the Turin community, serving on the Turin Village Board, Turin Town Board, and was currently serving as Turin Town Supervisor.  Joanne served on the B. Elizabeth Strong Memorial Library Board of Trustees, and was a member of the Turin Civic Club and the Turin Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Joanne enjoyed her flowers, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, and visiting with family and friends.  She enjoyed her Wednesday coffee club, and most of all, enjoyed spending time with her family.
