Gary A. Rivers

COPENHAGEN- Gary A. Rivers, 74, formerly of Copenhagen, died Sunday morning, May 28, 2017 at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility.

The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan, with Ministers of the Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Croghan Mennonite Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

He is survived by three children; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Stephen Baldwin of Glenfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Randy Hammond of North Carolina; a son, Gary Rivers Jr. of Port Leyden; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.  He is also survived by brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins and a very large extended family.  He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Geneva as well as brothers and sisters.

Gary was born on August 11, 1942 in Carthage, New York, a son of the late Charles and Wilma Covey Rivers.  He attended school in Carthage before going on to work on area farms.  On October 30, 1971, he married Geneva R. Martin in Lowville, New York.  They were married 40 years when Mrs. Rivers passed away on July 24, 2011. 

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
