Jones; an infant grandson, Andrew Paul Myers; and a grandson-in-law, James Walseman.

Barbara was born on February 4, 1921 in West Martinsburg, NY, the only child of the late Albert J. and Ruth C. Peterson Hausauer.  After graduating from Lowville Academy in 1938, she worked at the Double Dip Ice Cream Shop and McComber’s Electric in Lowville.  On July 19, 1941, she married Robert W. Jones at her parent’s home in West Martinsburg, with Rev. William Sawin officiating.  The couple purchased the family farm on the East Road Extension in Lowville in 1945.  Upon retirement in 1975, they sold the farm to their son Kenneth.  Barbara also worked for many years at Coahn’s Department Store in Lowville.

Mrs. Jones was a member of Lowville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, later becoming the first woman Sunday School Superintendent at the church.  She also served as Mission Chairman (famous for her mission bulletin boards) and greeted everyone faithfully.

Barbara was a longtime member of Lowville Grange #71, and a member of Denmark Grange, Lewis County Pamona Grange and State Grange, where she was honored as Lecturer of the year (1985) in Cortland, NY.  Barbara was a lifetime member and Past Matron of Zenith Copenhagen Chapter OES #346, she was also a member of the Lowville Homemakers.  As an active member of the West Martinsburg Preservation Society, Mrs. Jones was instrumental in having the West Martinsburg Methodist Church added to the National Registry of Historical Places.  She was always putting others first, helping in any way that she could.

Barbara loved family gatherings, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, watching birds, and going for walks.  She especially enjoyed decorating for holidays and special events.  Her pastime activities included making crafts, crocheting, cross-stitch, reading and puzzle books.

Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lyndaker, the nurses, aides, staff and “resident friends” of the 4th floor of Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, for your professional & compassionate care and your friendship to our mother, Barbara.

Condolences may be made online at www.isenekerfuneralhome.com.
