Darwin Roggie Obituary

 

CASTORLAND- Darwin Richard Roggie, 62, of Second Road, passed away Saturday morning, October 9, 2021 at Lewis County Health System Hospital, Lowville.

Darwin is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Pamela; a daughter, Catherine Roggie of Beaver Falls; three step-sons who he thought of as his own, Brandon  (Kristen) Boshart of Castorland; Jared (Miranda) Boshart of Glenfield; and Shane Boshart of Glenfield; six grandchildren, Cadence and William Noviscky; Kyra Dafoe; Bryce, Brayden, and Maya Boshart; his parents, Richard and Delores Roggie of Lowville; his siblings, Yvonne Roes of Lowville; Timothy and Renee Roggie of Beaver Falls; Nathan and Shari Roggie of Arizona; Douglas Roggie of Copenhagen; Darryl and Denise Roggie of Lowville; Richard and Liz Roggie of Seneca Falls; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by a brother, Neil Roggie, who passed away at age 2 ½.

Darwin was born on May 7, 1959 in Lowville, NY, a son of Richard and Delores Jantzi Roggie.  He worked on the family farm and graduated from Lowville Academy in 1977.  Darwin worked for many years as a snow plow operator and on the bridge crew for New York State Department of Transportation, Lowville.  On his days off, he drove tractor trailer hauling whey for Kennel Farms, Copenhagen.

Darwin was a member of Naumburg Mennonite Church.  He was also a member of Bear Falls Fire Department for over 20 years, and was a member of BPOE #1605, Lowville Elks Lodge.  He loved to hunt and ride his Harley motorcycle.  He cherished his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Calling hours are 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Naumburg Mennonite Church, with the funeral service to be held at 12:00 noon at the church.  Burial will be in Croghan Mennonite Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to help with funeral expenses by clicking on the donate button on Darwin’s obituary at www.isenekerfuneralhome.com, or by mail at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, NY 13367.
