CROGHAN- Funeral services for Ronald C. Virkler, 57, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville with Ministers of the Apostolic Christian Church of America, officiating. A calling hour will be from 10-11 prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow the funeral service in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Croghan. Ronald died Monday evening at the VA Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Contributions may be made to VA Medical Center, 800 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210.
He is survived by a sister, Cherie Turck of Croghan, an aunt, an uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents.
Ronald was born on June 21, 1955 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Ronald F. and Barbara Buskey Virkler and graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1973. He enlisted in the Army, and served as a medic, being stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado during the Vietnam Era. He was honorably discharged on February 10, 1978. He was a past member of Beaver River Memorial Post #1663, American Legion, Croghan. He enjoyed history, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.
