Biography

LOWVILLE- Marie C. Mantle, 94, formerly of Brookside Senior Living Community, and Shady Ave, Lowville, died Saturday morning, March 17, 2012, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville, where she had resided since March 8, 2012.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Harrisville Cemetery with Rev. Walter Giles, officiating. There will be no calling hours or funeral. Contributions may be made to Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility in C/O Activities Department, 7785 N. State Street, Lowville, NY 13367. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

Surviving are a sister, Geraldine Squires of Rome; eighteen nephews and nieces and several great-nephews and great-nieces. Two sisters, Leone and Helen and seven brothers, Hilton, Lawrence, Wayne, Orren, Ralph, Roy and Verne, died before her.

Marie was born in Harrisville, NY, on May 28, 1917, a daughter of LeRoy and Jennie Mullin Mantle. She attended rural schools and graduated from Harrisville High School in 1933 and also graduated from Central City Business Institute in Syracuse. She worked for Dwight N. Dudo, Attorney in Lowville for 35 years, (1934-1968). After Mr. Dudo’s death, she worked for area attorneys and for North Country Estates until her retirement in 1979.

Her personal interests include, golfing, word and crossword puzzles and reading.
