LYONS FALLS - Charles F. “Frogbait” Burdick, 64, of 6814 McAlpine Street passed away Thursday morning at Lewis County General Hospital with the love and support of his family.
Charlie was born in Greig on December 29, 1947 to the late Ned W. Burdick & Frederica “Toots” Holland. He was raised and educated locally graduating from South Lewis Central.
Charlie proudly served in the US Marine Corp from 1967-73, LCpl., YK-5 Crew, Foxtrot Co., 2nd Bn., 3rd Marines. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart for his heroic service in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 2158, Marine Corp League, the Mattawan Hunting Club, and the Moose River Fish and Game Club.
Charlie is survived by his two daughters; Jamie and Richard Amo of Englewood, FL, and Jessica Burdick and Sven Johnson of Sarasota, FL, 3 grandchildren; Anthony, Charlie, and one on the way, his siblings; David and Irene Burdick of Bloomingdale, IL, Ned and Evelyn Burdick of Sandy Creek, Dawn Roy of Glenfield, and Sue and John O’Brien of Lowville, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister Gail Burdick, who passed away in infancy.
Charlie was one of a kind who brought a smile and laughter to everyone he met. He was generous and soft-hearted, but wouldn’t hesitate to tell it like it is. He was a child at heart and always the life of the party! He always said he was a legend in his own mind, but he truly is a legend to all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
He was a man of many traits. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and cooking. He loved his New York Yankees and Giants, but most of all he loved his girls.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 24th from 2- 4 and 7-9 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Lowville. His Memorial Service will be celebrated Wednesday, at 11am at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Brantingham at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Charlie’s honor to the Kyle O’Brien Scholarship fund at Northern Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 147, Lowville, NY 13367.
