Biography
LOWVILLE – A. Marie Pennock, 90, formerly of Adams Center, died Thursday morning, January 28, 2010, at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility.
In keeping with Mrs. Pennock’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Sanford Corner’s Cemetery, Calcium. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. Contributions may be made to Croghan Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 405, Croghan, NY 13327; or to a charity of one’s choice.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Margaret Pennock of Hermon; a daughter, Sue Pennock of Lowville, with whom she resided, before entering the nursing home; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Laura Lingenfelter of Sebring, FL; two grandsons, Michael and Amy Pennock of Walworth, NY; and Mark Pennock of Middle Grove, NY; a great-grandson, Ryan Pennock of Walworth; nieces, a nephew and several cousins. She is predeceased by a brother, Lewis Lingenfelter
Mrs. Pennock was born on May 16, 1919 in the Town of Lyme, a daughter of the late Roy and Viola Walts Lingenfelter. She graduated from Evans Mills High School in 1936, and then went on to graduate from the Watertown School of Commerce. She worked in the Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office for two and one-half years. On July 11 1941, she married Ward F. Pennock at the Sandy Creek Methodist parsonage, with Rev. Harrison officiating. Mr. Pennock died January 16, 1986. Mrs. Pennock worked as a secretary in the guidance office at South Jefferson Central School, retiring in 1974. Mr. and Mrs. Pennock moved to Croghan in 1977. The couple enjoyed wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Mrs. Pennock was member of Beaver Valley United Methodist Church, Naumburg. She was a past member of the Jeff – Lewis Educational Secretaries Association. Mrs. Pennock enjoyed counted cross stitch, reading, gardening and camping.
