WATERTOWN – Thomas W. Hellinger, 64, of Mechanic Street, formerly of Lowville, died Thursday March 15, 2018, at his home.
In keeping with Tom’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville
He is survived by two children, Diana (Eric) Widrick of Lowville, and Brian Hellinger of Sackets Harbor; four grandchildren, Jordynn, Connor, Ashtin and Alexzander; two sisters, Martha Cole and her husband, Ned; and Mary Lou Peters, all of Lowville; an uncle and aunt, Ron and Betty Walter of Lowville, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by two brothers, John Hellinger in 1975,William G. Hellinger in 2016; a sister, Bonnie Hellinger in 2011; and his brother-in-law, Thomas Peters.
Tom was born on March 29, 1953 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late John and Muriel Walters Hellinger. He graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School in the Class of 1972. While in school, he worked at Rossdale’s Dairy Bar from 1970-1972. On July 28, 1973 he married Mary Jane Smithling at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Bernie Kellogg officiating. The marriage later ended in divorce. He worked for the John Ross farm from 1974-1978 and owned his own farm in Denmark from 1978-1989. He also worked various jobs in the area.
He enjoyed playing euchre and socializing with friends.
