LOWVILLE- Sharon M. Marti, 71, of New York State Route 26, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Lewis County General Hospital. 

A Funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church, Carthage with Rev. Donald Robinson, Pastor, officiating.  All are welcome to a luncheon immediately following the Funeral Mass in the Fellowship Hall of Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Route 12, Lowville.  Spring burial will be in Swinburne Cemetery, Deer River.  Calling hours are from 5 – 8 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville.  Contributions in her memory may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY  13367; or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept.142; Memphis, TN  38101-9908. 

Sharon was born on March 24, 1944 in Watertown, NY, a daughter of the late Edward J. and Leona May Bushey Murphy.  She graduated from Augustinian Academy and attended Canton ATC, where she met her husband.  On April 21, 1963, she married James C. Marti at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage.  Sharon raised her family, and worked for Grant’s Department Store, before working for Lowville Academy in the cafeteria and then with Jefferson – Lewis B.O.C.E.S. as a Special Education Aide until her retirement. 

She enjoyed boat rides on the lake, or sitting on the beach, taking in the scenery, especially if her family was with her.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Craig Marti of Newburgh; Mark and Amy Marti of Lowville. Sharon found great joy spending time with her grandchildren, Craig, Jr., Kayla, Krysta, Cara, Christian, Ryan and McKenzie; and her great-grandson, Jasper James Olivero.  She is also survived by a brother, Donald Murphy of Ohio; a sister, Betty Moonan of Boonville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Norm Yerdon of Adams; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, James C. Marti, who died on October 27, 2014; a daughter-in-law, Natalina Marti, a granddaughter, Carley Rose Marti, a sister-in-law, Patricia Murphy; and two brothers-in-law, Edward R. Moonan and Fred Marti.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the friends and neighbors in Denmark for their kindness, love and care they gave Sharon; and also, thank you to Lewis County General Hospital staff for their outstanding care and service.
