NEW BREMEN-Sally Jane (Hodkinson) Hoffman, 83, of Manchester Center, Vermont, formerly from New Bremen, New York, died on September 13, 2017, at the Southern Vermont Medical Center, in Bennington, Vermont, after a short illness.
Sally was born to the late Joseph Hodkinson and Madeline Guyette Hodkinson on, January 22, 1934, in Watertown, NY. She married Ralph F. Hoffman on June 22, 1952. In 1956, Sally and her husband, Ralph, bought the H.D. Weller farm, located on the Number Three Road in Lowville. Sally worked with Ralph on the farm and raised her family until 1976. After selling the farm, the couple moved to the Van Amber Road, in New Bremen, NY, and Sally then worked at the Lowville Academy Central School cafeteria for a short time. During the past three years, Sally lived with her son, Joe, in Manchester Center, VT.
Sally loved spending time with her family, friends, cooking, playing cards, sewing, quilting, and watching her favorite game show, Family Feud. Sally also enjoyed going to her Florida home in Zephyrhills, where she spent the winter months the past eleven years.
Sally is predeceased by her husband, Ralph. She is survived by her daughter: Mary Beth Cool of Fort Plain, New York, and her son: Joseph Hoffman of Manchester Center, Vermont. Sally is also survived by her sister: Florence André; her brothers: Robert and David Hodkinson; sisters-in-law: Janet and Jane Hodkinson; a son-in-law: Ed Cool; a daughter-in-law: Jann (Belewich) Hoffman; four adoring grandchildren: Willie Cool, Robbie Cool, Judd Hoffman, and Jenna Hoffman; a granddaughter-in-law: Megan Cool; a great-grandchild: William Henry Cool; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017, at Saint Stephen's Catholic Church in Croghan, NY, with Reverend Donald J. Manfred, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Peter's Cemetery, New Bremen. Calling hours will be 3 p.m.- 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, NY.
