Robin S. (Merry) Porter

SACKETS HARBOR – Robin S. Porter, 53, of Military Road, returned to her heavenly home on Wednesday evening, March 23, 2016 at Hospice of Jefferson County, Watertown, after a valiant battle with a long illness.  Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Robin was blessed with a large and loving family.  She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.  She is survived by her husband, Brian; five children, Brandon and his wife, Jessica Porter, and their two children, Mallary and Mason, of Watertown; Heather Porter and her son, Brock, of Sackets Harbor; Tanya Porter of Liverpool; Cameron Porter of Baldwinsville; Jimmy McLane at home; her siblings, Guy Merry of Turin; Rosetta and Carlton “Sonny” David of Black River; Franklin and Christine Merry of Watson; Christopher and Mary Merry of Boonville; Yvonne Merry of Lowville; Juanita and Tony Young of Lowville; Hope and Pat Breen of Boonville; a sister-in-law, Joyce Merry of Glenfield; a brother-in-law, Bruce Rohr of Watertown; her mother-in-law, Karen Schiffman of Minnesota; dear friends, Ed and Margaret Chapman of Watson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by a sister, Rebecca Rohr; and two brothers, Ceylon and Lark Merry.

Robin was born on December 6, 1962 in Lowville, NY, a daughter of the late Guy Sr. and Noreen Williams Merry.  During her childhood, she lived with Elmer and Mary Taylor.  She graduated from Lowville Academy in 1982, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1982 until 1984.  On October 22, 1983, she married Brian C. Porter at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, MN.  The couple resided in Minnesota until 1992, moving back to New York, living in Lowville for many years before moving to Sackets Harbor.

Robin enjoyed her time as a foster parent and loved spending time with her husband of 32 years.  She enjoyed reading and playing cards, along with spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. 

Calling hours will be at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. in Lowville, NY from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday March 26, 2016 with the funeral to follow, with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Petries’ Corners Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County in Watertown, NY.  Donations may be made to her family at 15275 Military Road, Sackets Harbor, NY 13685.
