LOWVILLE – Robert E. O’Brien, 70, of River Road, Lowville, died Monday, March 6, 2017 at his home, under the care of his loving family and Lewis County Hospice.

 

He is survived by his children, Christopher O’Brien of Croghan; Tammy Stevens of Lowville; Rebecca and Shane Kayser of Fairport; two sisters and a brother, Doris and Kevin Morak of Lowville; Patrick and Patricia O’Brien of Lowville and Ingrid O’Brien; a sister-in-law, Dianne O’Brien of Lowville; eight grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by several family members in Germany who he enjoyed visiting throughout the years.  He was predeceased by a brother, Harold W. O’Brien, who died June 20, 2013.

His presence will be especially missed by his Lloyd’s of Lowville family.

Robert was born on July 14, 1946 in Heidelberg, Germany, a son of the late William H. and Irma Schröder O’Brien.  He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1965, and from Mohawk Valley Community College.  Robert worked as a Registered Nurse for Lewis County General Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 2000.

He had a passion for hunting, wood working, and spending time with family and friends.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours.  A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Lowville Rural Cemetery.  Contributions in his memory may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY  13367.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Lewis County Hospice for the loving care they provided to Robert.
