LOWVILLE – Richard E. Hill, 75, of Snell Road, passed away Sunday morning at his home, under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Evan Zehr, officiating.  Burial will follow in Beaches Bridge Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY  13367.  

He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Laura; three children and their spouses, Donald and Kimberly Hill of Calcium; Sandra and Dewane Griffin of Central Square; Donna and Scott Olin of Watson; two step-children, Rose and Mitchell Larkins of Lowville; Jeffrey Trombley of Lowville; eleven grandchildren, Kevin, Natasha, Lindsey, Donald, Jr., Mackenzie, Alaina, Brandon, Hunter, Ryan, Macey, and Todd; his siblings, Joyce and Paul Luke of Warners, NY; Jean Polge of Syracuse; Ronald and Judy Hill of Carthage; Rodney and Betty Hill of Lowville; Louise and Carl Pignone of Black River; three brothers-in-law, Paul Smith, George Spencer, Stanley Spencer; six sisters-in-law, Yvonne Spencer, Christine Hill, Dorothy Olin, Marlene Spencer, Linda Spencer and Sally Spencer; nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by two brothers, Dewey W. and Duane Hill, a sister, Audrey Smith; seven brothers-in-law, Louis Polge, Glenn Spencer, Richard “Tony” Spencer, Raymond Spencer, Carl Spencer, Lloyd Olin and Clark Hall; and a sister-in-law, Nona Hill.     

Richard was born on September 7, 1941 in Lowville, a son of the late Dewey and Doris Zehr Hill. He attended country school, General Martin High School, and Lowville Academy.  His first marriage to Pauline Smith ended in divorce.  He worked for Richard Weller’s farm on the Number Three Road, and other area farms before working for AMF Bowling Products and P & H Feed Mill.  On December 10, 1987, he married Laura J. Spencer Trombley at the couple’s home.  Richard retired from Nortz Distributing in February 1997 after many years of service.

Richard enjoyed gardening, lawn care, woodworking, and small engine repair.  He loved helping people and bird watching.
