Richard Thomas Graves

LOWVILLE – Richard Thomas Graves, 80, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017, at home with his family by his side.

He was born May 12, 1936 in Lowville, N.Y., to Donald and Laura (Ford) Graves.  He spent his childhood on the family farm in Greig, N.Y.  He graduated from General Martin School in 1954.  Mr. Graves married Marilyn Tucker on September 25, 1954.  He served the Town of Greig as supervisor for many years.  Mr. and Mrs. Graves owned and operated the Cat’s Paw Hotel in Brantingham, N.Y. for seven years.  He also worked at Agway, drove school bus, sold insurance, and worked at Widrick and Sons in Lowville until his retirement.  His most important job was always being a great husband, father and pop – pop.

He leaves behind his wife, Marilyn of 62 years; daughter, Vicky Widmeyer, her husband Rick, and children Melissa, Jon, Jim, and Beth; daughter, Sherry Herman, her husband Mike, and children Joe, Heather, and Mike; son, Richard Jr., his wife Kirsten, and children Chris and Nick; daughter, Lori Gillen, her husband Pat, and children Joshua and Jeremy; son Robert, his wife Cynthia, and children Laura, Jacob, and Lucas.  He also had ten great-grandchildren.

Richard enjoyed his hobbies of golfing, bowling and going to the casino.  He was an avid Yankees fan.  He was a life member of B.P.O.E  #1605 Lowville Elks Lodge, and served as president of the South Lewis Central School Board of Education.

Calling hours will be held from Noon – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  The funeral service will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Mr. Ronald Pominville officiating.  A gathering at 3 – G Fire Hall will immediately follow the funeral service.
