Norman was born on January 13, 1940, at home in the Town of Denmark, NY, a son of the late Ezra and Marion Moshier Yousey. He attended grade school in Castorland, Lowville Academy, and graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School, Harrisonburg, Virginia. After completing high school, he worked on the family farm. On May 14, 1966, he married Betty Lou Widrick at Lowville Mennonite Church with Rev. Richard Zehr, officiating. In 1972, he formed a farm partnership with his brother, Herbert Yousey. In 1991, he got his trucking license and left the farm in 1992. He drove for various trucking companies until his retirement in November, 2003. Norman accepted Christ as his Savior at age 10, and loved and served his Lord all of his life. He was a member of Naumburg Mennonite Church where he was involved as an elder/church council member, Sunday School teacher, and in various other capacities. He had a heart for the Christian education, and he and his wife were also very foundational in the beginning of River Valley Mennonite School, which they have supported and involved themselves throughout the years. He also enjoyed reading, traveling, cutting wood, and spending time with his family. He loved people, especially children.
