CARTHAGE– Norma Ruth Conde, 91, of Meadowbrook Terrace, Carthage, formerly of Watertown, died Tuesday evening at Upstate Medical, University Hospital, Syracuse.
All are welcome to attend a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan, with Ministers of the Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown. Calling hours are from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan, please mail to Ted Virkler, Treasurer, 7072 Kirschnerville Road, Croghan, NY 13327.
Surviving are her brother, Vincent and his wife Gladyce Farney of Carthage; a nephew Reginald Farney, his son Brenon, and her two children and their spouses, Andrew and Amanda Conde of Bend, Oregon, Kimberly and Karl Askins of Watertown; five grandchildren, Joshua, Olivia, Julia, Jack and Arden; a stepson Sandy Conde and his wife, Nancy of Henderson Harbor, NY and their children Susan and Sam, stepdaughter Ann Burt, Wellesley Hills, Ma. and husband Steve. She is predeceased by a brother, Curtis Farney, who died at age 3 in 1932 and stepson Jay Conde, 68 in 2015 of Harrods Creek, KY.
Norma was born on October 11, 1926 in Croghan, NY, a daughter of the late
Ray and Lucille Yoder Farney and graduated from Beaver Falls High School
in 1944. On February 9, 1963, she married William Wheeler Conde at the
Black River Valley Club with then City Judge George G. Inglehart
officiating. Mr. Conde died on December 26, 1984.
Mrs. Conde enjoyed her career as a dental hygienist graduating from Eastman Dental Dispensary in 1946, from Rochester N.Y. She began her career as a dental hygiene teacher in Putnam County, N.Y from 1946-1956, and then as a dental hygienist for Dr. A.L. Danforth in Watertown, N.Y. from 1956-1963. Mrs. Conde was an active member of the Christian Women’s Organization of Watertown, N.Y. She served as a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church, Watertown, N.Y., and she was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan from 2002.
