Lena R. (Roggie) Gadbaw

CARTHAGE- Lena R. Gadbaw, 86, formerly of North Jefferson Street, Carthage, died Friday evening, November 20, 2015 at Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre, Carthage. 

Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc.  A graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Lowville Rural Cemetery, with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating.  A gathering at the Lowville VFW will immediately follow the graveside service.

She is survived by two daughters,  Sharon Gadbaw Fernando and her husband Sunil of Great Bend; Patricia Gadbaw and her fiancé, Timothy Prashaw of Gouverneur; a granddaughter, Tanya Gadbaw Neitzke and her husband Erich of Brookport, IL;  a brother, John N. Roggie of Castorland; three sisters, Margaret N. Hanno, Elizabeth N. and Raymond A. Larkins of Lowville, Mary N. and Eugene D. Kloster of Croghan She is predeceased by a son Frederick C. Davenport, who died on July 24, 2012; six sisters, Pearl N. Roggie, Whilmina N. Fleming, Barbara N. Augustyn, Charlotte N. Crouse, Jean N. Paul and Anna N. Rubar.

Lena was born on July 10, 1929, at home in Croghan, NY, a daughter of the late John L. and Anna Hirsch Nafziger Roggie.  She attended country school in Belfort and did domestic work before going to work for AMF in Lowville.  Lena retired from AMF after more than 30 years of employment.

Lena loved baking, gardening, and working with her son, Fred, cutting, splitting and piling wood.
