Kenneth E. Wilkinson

GLENFIELD- Kenneth  E. Wilkinson, 77, former longtime resident Mexico, NY, died at the home of his son in Glenfield, NY on Sunday, January 10, 2015, surrounded by his family.

Calling hours will be from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016  at Harter Funeral Home, 9 Washington Ave., Mexico, NY 13114.  There will be no interment services until further notice.  A “Celebration of Life” gathering at 419 Oneida Street, Fulton, NY, will immediately follow the calling hours.

He is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Gloria; a son, Van Ingersoll and his companion Wendy, of Glenfield; three grandchildren, Van Ingersoll Jr., Corey Ingersoll, and Crystal Clayton-Fields, all of the Syracuse area; 2 step-grandchildren, Megan Mansfield of Fulton, and Joseph McIntosh of Hartsville, TN; four great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by

Tow brothers, Lee and Roy; and four sisters, Vera, Wilma, Wanda and Jan.

Kenneth was born on September 1, 1938 in Oneonta, NY, a son of the late Edwin and Mima Babcock Wilkinson.  He attended school in Rochester, NY.  On December 28, 1961, he married Gloria J. Ingersoll in Rochester.  Kenneth honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963.  He worked for Jet Building supply in Rochester and moved with the company when they opened a store in East Syracuse, NY in 1979.  Kenneth retired in 1995 as barnch manager.  He played lead guitar with a band in Rochester and once played with Johnny Cash.  He enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, fishing with his family and gardening.  He loved his dogs.
