CARTHAGE – Kenneth A. Hickox, 67, of Second Road, Carthage, died Wednesday evening, May 24, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Utica.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  Calling hours will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the memorial service, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at the family’s convenience in Hillside Cemetery, West Carthage.  Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601; or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA  02241-7005. 

He is survived by his son, Kenneth A, Hickox and his fiancée, Tammy Rushlow of Carthage; a brother and sister-in-law, Norman Jr. and Carolyn Hickox of Martville, NY; a sister, Carol Hammond of Carthage; a step-sister and her husband, Linda and Ralph Bush of Croghan; an aunt; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.  He is also survived by his good friends, Pat and Sylvia Ritz.  Mr. Hickox is predeceased by his parents, his step-mother, Patricia D. Hickox; and two sisters, Florence and Rose Hickox, who died at birth. 

Kenneth was born on October 30, 1949 in Lowville, a son of the late Norman W. and Dorothy R. Marvin Hickox.  He attended Beaver River Central School, and then went to work, working in various positions.  Kenneth began work for Boise Cascade in Beaver Falls, and worked there for 27 years, until the mill closed.  The remainder of his career he spent working for Kraft Foods in Lowville, until his retirement due to a disability.  On March 28, 1970, he married Gloria Mae Schermerhorn in Carthage.  The marriage ended in divorce.

Kenneth enjoyed camping, tinkering on vehicles, and had an extreme love for cats.  He enjoyed playing lottery scratch off tickets.
