Jane E. (Shepard) Wilcox

LOWVILLE – Jane E. Wilcox, 101, formerly of East State Street, passed away early this morning at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility

The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating. Burial will follow in Beaches Bridge Cemetery.  Calling hours will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.  Contributions in her memory may be made to Lowville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 81, Lowville, NY  13367; or the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility Activity Fund, 7785 N. State St., Lowville, N.Y. 13367.
 

She is survived besides by three sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn A. and Barbara Wilcox of Lowville; Frederick L. and Frances Wilcox of Pahrump, Nevada; Francis Wilcox of Lowville; a daughter, Carolyn Jean Mowers of Lowville; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Wilcox; her son-in-law, Robert Mowers; a grandson-in-law, Jon Tripp; a sister, Florence Lynch, and by an infant brother.
 

Jane was born on June 16, 1916, in Powell, Wyoming, a daughter of the late Jerry and Florence Shepard.  She attended Lowville Academy.  On August 7, 1933, she married Lloyd G. Wilcox at the Lowville United Methodist Church Parsonage with Rev. E. Starks Biebe officiating.  Jane worked for local stores as a meat packager for 19 years, retiring from Totum in 1978.

She was a member of Lowville United Methodist Church.   Jane was a charter member of the Lowville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and an honorary member of the New York State Fireman’s Auxiliary.  She served as a judge for fair parades.  Jane enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
