Henry F. Bush

CROGHAN-Henry F. Bush, 66, of Croghan went to his eternal rest on November 8, 2017 with his wife by his side and under the care of Hospice.

Henry was born on March 20, 1951, in Lowville, NY, a son of Frederick and Adele (Hill) Bush.  He attended Father Leo Memorial School and graduated from Beaver River Central.  He married Susan Peters on July 3, 1999, at St. Vincent de Paul Oratory, Belfort, with Rev. Leo Wiley officiating.  Over the years, Henry worked at various jobs and especially enjoyed working outdoors and driving truck.  He retired from V.S. Virkler & Sons in 2013. 

He is survived by his wife and siblings:  Amy Edick, Marilyn (Ed) Widrick, Nancy (Vincent) Edick, Ceyril (Betty) Bush, Nick (Jane) Bush, Mike (Mary) Bush; brothers-in-law:  Eugene Edick, Randy (Jane) Peters, Bob (Sharon) Peters, and Rich Peters; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Helen Edick, stepbrother Richard Bush, stepsister Joan (Bush) Nevills, and several nephews.

Henry was a quietly humorous, generous, and inventive man of many talents.  He was proud to have personally designed and completed all phases of constructing the couple’s home from clearing the land to completing the inside finish work.  He spent many happy hours in his workshop and was pleased to contribute items to local fundraisers.  Over the years Henry and Sue provided a loving forever home to numerous rescue dogs and cats.  He always had a great time at family game nights, wax on snow parties, and the annual sauerkraut making with neighbors.  Henry enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and revisiting favorites, especially in Maine and Virginia.  The ocean always drew him back to its shores.

In a final act of generosity Henry gifted his body to the Anatomical Donation Program at SUNY Upstate. Family and friends will be received at Iseneker Funeral Home, Lowville, to remember Henry, on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017 at St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan with Rev. Leo A. Wiley, Retired Pastor officiating. Burial will be at the family’s convenience in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Belfort, at a later time.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Building Restoration Fund, 9748 Main St, Croghan, NY 13327 or Lewis County Humane Society P.O.
