I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of the family. For right now, there's no detour around grief, no shortcut through mourning. However, 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, "... power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry, or that we forget. It means we recover. We recover because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28 which says, "...all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection. That is our amazing hope! The Bible likens our hope to an anchor. Just like an anchor stabilizes a ship, our hope stabilizes us and keeps us from drowning in overwhelming sadness. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, "... the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort be your comfort now, during this time of sorrow.

"Blondie" Allen was one of my longest term close friends. We were young adults, living in Lyons Falls when we first met. He and Jane became our closest friends, and so I guess we "grew up as adults" together. In the many decades following, we travelled together, sang together, Partied together, and shared many, many experiences, and good times. Harold was so forthright and straight forward that I always knew I could get a straight, unvarnished opinion , right away ...He was a very great friend, and when I last drove up to Lewis County to have lunch with him, I sort of knew I'd likely not see him again.. I hated to say good bye.. A remarkable friend.. I'll miss him greatly.

Just heard the news. I will always remember the great help he and Jane were with me and have many fond memories of the times Harold and I spent together when he would come over to the farm, our hunting trips (mostly at camp in Brantingham with one of my cousins) , and the memorable wood cutting days, especially the one when we both cut our legs in the same week one winter. Needless to say that ended our wood cutting for a while. Blessings and comfort to you all as you go through this time together,,,,,,,,,Romey

Condolences to your family. May you receive comfort from the word of God during this time of loss. Acts 24:15 says there will be a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous. Can you imagine the joy of Martha and Mary when Jesus raised Lazarus back to life?—Read John 11:21-24, 38-44. Revelation 21:3,4 promises that one day death, mourning, and outcry will be no more. To the Harold Allen family,
Walt and I are very sorry to hear of Harold's passing. We enjoyed visiting with him
at church and going to see him at Brookside. Harold was a gentle, kind gentleman.
I was an honor to know Harold and Jane--a marvelous couple.
You are in our prayers and have our deepest sympathy. Rest in peace Harold.
