Elaine L. (Hodgkiss) Hoch

LOWVILLE – Elaine L. Hoch, 72, of River Road, formerly of Toytown Road, Beaver Falls, passed away at her home early Monday morning, April 4, 2016, under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

A prayer service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, with Rev. David L. Shivers officiating.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.  There will be no calling hours.  A gathering will immediately follow the service at the Lowville VFW Post #6912.  Any food donations may be taken to the VFW after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.  Contributions may be made to the family, Kenneth A. Hoch, Jr., P.O. Box 454, Beaver Falls, NY  13305.

She is survived by her husband of over 55 years, Kenneth; her five children, Leanne Hoch of Lowville; Doug Hoch of New Bremen; Mike and Traci Hoch of Waupaca, WI; Laura Hoch of Lowville; Robert and Becky Hoch of Beaver Falls; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by a great-grandson, Chayse Hoch; two brothers, Jerry Hodgkiss and Ron Hodgkiss; and by a sister, Janet Davenport.

Elaine was born on May 10, 1943 in Niagara Falls, NY, a daughter of the late George and Leona Robideau Hodgkiss.  She attended Clifton – Fine Central School.  On September 24, 1960, she married Kenneth A. Hoch, Jr., at the Catholic church in Fine, NY.  Elaine raised her family, and was employed by Head Start in Beaver Falls and Lowville.  She worked for Boise Cascade in Beaver Falls as a mail person, and was also employed by the VFW and American Legion in Lowville until her retirement in the early 2000’s.

Mrs. Hoch was a member of Lowville American Legion Post #162 Auxiliary, and a member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, VFW Auxiliary.  Elaine enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and making dolls.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and at camp.
