LOWVILLE – Donald R. Bach, Sr., 89, of Sunset Drive, Lowville, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 20, 2016, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at the Lowville Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Runner, Pastor, officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Champion at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016.  Calling hours are from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  Contributions may be made to the Lowville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 89, Lowville, NY  13367.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Mary; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald R., Jr. and Susan B. Bach; two grandsons, David Parker Bach and his wife, Jennifer Kennedy Bach; and Michael John Bach; a great-granddaughter, Emerson Bach; a sister-in-law, Mary E. Bach; nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by a daughter, Martha Ann Bach, who died September 22, 2004; and a brother, Robert Bach.

Donald was born on January 28, 1927 in Carthage, NY, a son of the late Wesley Gordon and Florence Johnson Bach.  He graduated from Jarratt High School in Jarratt, Virginia in 1944.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944, during World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1946 as 3rd Class Petty Officer.  After his service, Donald attended Cogne Electrical Engineering School in Chicago, and graduated from there in 1947.   On October 4, 1946, he married Mary Frances Parker at Emporia Baptist Church in Emporia, VA.  Mr. Bach worked for Johns-Manville in Jarratt, Virginia and Natchez, Mississippi prior to moving to New York, where he worked for Climax Manufacturing, retiring in 1990 as Plant Engineer after 34 years of service.  

Mr. Bach was an active member of Lowville Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon.  He was a member and Master of Lowville Masonic Lodge #134, a member of the Scottish Rite, Jefferson-Lewis Shriner, and 32nd Degree Mason.  Don was a past member and President of the Lowville Academy School Board of Education, and a former member of the Board of Directors of Friends of Lewis County Hospice.  Mr. Bach was a member of Lowville American Legion Post #162.  While he lived in Castorland, prior to moving to Lowville, he was an active member of Castorland Baptist Church, Castorland Fire Department, and the Castorland Village government.  Mr. Bach was an Eagle Scout and former Scout Master of his Boy Scout Troop in Jarratt, Virginia.
