Barry J. Austin

BEAVER FALLS – Barry J. Austin, 48, of Artz Road, Beaver Falls, passed away Wednesday morning, June 15, 2016 at his home.  

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville with Rev. David Herrmann, Pastor of Beaver Falls United Methodist Church, and Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Riverside Cemetery Annex, Beaver Falls. A Calling hour will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., prior to the funeral at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made to Beaver Falls United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 6508 Lefevre Street, Beaver Falls, NY  13305

He is survived by his father, Bert Austin of Beaver Falls; a sister and brother-in-law, Beth and James Monnat of Croghan; a brother-in-law, Birlyn Flint of Wakefield, MA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by his mother, Charlotte T. Austin, who died January 13, 2012; and a sister, Janet M. Austin, who died on September 19, 1998.

Barry was born on July 13, 1967 in the Village of Alexandria Bay, a son to Bert and Charlotte Taylor Austin. He graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1985.  During high school, Barry led his cross-country and track teams to several state championship titles. He attended East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania from 1985 – 1986.  In May 1986, Barry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served until September 1992.  Following his service, he was a production manager for Capital Safety Group and Reliance Industries in Houston, Texas. 

Mr. Austin was a member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, Lowville VFW.  He was a sports enthusiast, and loved trivia contests.  He traveled extensively, and had visited every continent.
