One of my favorite teachers at LACS that inspired me to become a teacher myself. A great man with a great love for all people.

Art and Shirley Einhorn are the reasons that I have made Lewis County my home for my adult life. It was Art that hired me ( along with other members of the Lewis County Historical Society Board of Directors) to serve as curator of the the museum. His knowledge of local history was astounding. He brought much to the museum with special programming from the many academic connections he had. He was a true Renaissance man! So grateful for the privilege of knowing and working with him. Winona and Victor, my heartfelt condolences to you and your families. He cared deeply about his community.

Mr Einhorn was perhaps one of the most important teachersI had.. he instilled a love of History and more importantly the History of Lewis Co. Even after he retired he still knew his students by name and asked about their lives. Teachers like Arthur are hard to comeby in any era, he was unique as a teacher and as a human being. Rest well Mr Einhorn you left many of us with a love for History and our county .%0 + years later we still say " Mr Einhorn" said....... Thankyou for that wonderful gift.

I have many great memories of Mr. Einhorn as a teacher at LACS, as a counselor at Beaver Camp for Boys and as someone I would see when I returned home to visit. He was a wonderful and supportive teacher and was interested in everything. My condolences to Winona and the entire Einhorn family.

Art was a wonderful person, a good friend, and a scholar of importance to Iroquois and related studies. His important observations on the transfer of some of the "Maniwaki wampum belts" many years ago provide us with documentation that is critical to understanding their history. His published record of this even, and the observations that he shared after the transfer took place, have allowed us to understand the reality of the process of "holding" wampum and how this ad hoc process has operated over the past two and a half centuries. Art's generosity in making all this information available and his careful records make him a unique figure in the recent histories of Native peoples in Iroquoia.

Professor Einhorn was one of my favorite teaches at JCC. He was instrumental in inspiring me to take an interest in anthropology and I recall looking forward to his classes at JCC even in the dead of winter on a cold night. His classes were informative and kept one's attention from start to finish. I feel privileged to have been one of his students.

To the Einhorn Family - Art was a good friend to me and always interested in what my students and I were doing. On several occasions he was a visitor to my KIDS classes when he talked to the students about Native American culture. And Victor, I remember fondly when you came into our yard on Summit Avenue to corral your horse.
May your father rest in peace! Suzie Parker

I came to know Art through our mutual love of local archaeology. He frequented my office at the Jefferson County Historical Society while waiting on Shirley to finish medical treatments in Watertown. I had lost contact with him after I left JCHS in 2009. I had meant to drop in on him many times, but just never got around to it. I am sorry for your loss.
