Anna Marie H. (Hirschey) Marolf

CARTHAGE – Anna Marie H. Marolf, 95, formerly of Second Road, passed away Saturday morning, September 16, 2017, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility.  

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery Annex, Beaver Falls.  Calling hours are from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the funeral home.    Contributions may be made to American Maple Museum, P.O. Box 81, Croghan, NY  13327; or to a charity of one’s choice.

She is survived by two sons, Ashley Marolf and his companion, Karen Dening of Carthage; Lindsey and Nancy Marolf of Bloomsburg, PA; twin grandsons, Nickolas and Jordan Marolf; a sister and brother-in-law, Avis and Joseph Myers of Kingston, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her husband, Embert, who died November 16, 2002; and a sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Milton Ebersol.

Anna was born on October 16, 1921 at home in the Town of Croghan, a daughter of the late Walter and R. Lena Nuspliger Hirschey.  She attended country school one mile from her home on the Second Road, and graduated from Beaver Falls High School.  Anna worked for her parents on the family farm, and worked for Climax Manufacturing in Castorland prior to her marriage.  She married Embert C. Marolf at the Boonville Methodist Church parsonage on December 6, 1946.  The couple worked for Anna’s parents on the family farm, and until purchasing the farm in 1955.  Together with her husband, the couple owned and operated the dairy farm for many years.

Anna was a member of the Beaver Falls Grange, Pamona Grange, State and National Granges for many years.   Also, she was a member of Riverbank Singing Needles. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, reading and sewing.
