LOWVILLE – Amasa G. Larkins, 77, beloved husband of Cindy, died Wednesday evening, November 13, 2013, at his home, under the loving care of his family, with special thanks to Shandi Stanford and Lewis County Hospice.
The funeral will be Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating. Burial will follow the funeral in West Lowville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, November 15, 2013 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Cindy; two children, James C. Larkins; Vanessa Boshart of New Orleans, LA, and her son, David Larkins of Lowville; two step-children, Tammy and Ron Juby of Lowville, and their son Adam and grandson Jake; Brian Stalker of Lowville, and his three children, Wesley Stalker of Cortland, Taylor and Alyssa Stalker of Lowville; his brothers and sisters, Albert and Leona Larkins of Lowville; Raymond and Elizabeth Larkins of Lowville; Bertha and Lynn Turner of LaFargeville; Frances Briggs of Sherberne; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by two sisters, Ann LaBrake and Patsy LaVancha, and by a brother, Francine “Frank” Larkins.
Amasa was born on March 22, 1936 in Lowville a son of the late Olin and Florence Cody Larkins. He attended country school on Route 177. He worked for numerous car dealerships as a mechanic in Carthage and Lowville, before going to work for the Lewis County Highway Department, retiring on October 31, 1998, after 25 years of service.
