CROGHAN – Alba K. Lyndaker Roggie, 97, formerly of Second Road, Carthage and Main Street, Croghan, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 24, 2016, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, surrounded by her family.

Calling hours are Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. at the Naumburg Mennonite Church. Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in the Croghan Mennonite Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Naumburg Mennonite Church with Rev. Titus Mast and Rev. Myron Roggie officiating. Contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 21 South 12th St., P.O. Box 500, Akron, PA  17501-0500; or to Riverview Ladies’ Sewing Circle, P.O. Box 124, Castorland, NY  13620.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janell and Bill Lederman of Sturgis, MI; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Janice Roggie of Castorland; Karl and Ginny Roggie of Carthage; Galen and Sheila Roggie of Croghan; two sisters, Eleanor Zehr of Lockport, NY; Charlotte Noftsier of Castorland; a brother, Elmer Lyndaker of Barker, NY; three sisters-in-law, Velma Lyndaker of Croghan; Ellen Roggie and Alfreda Roggie, both of Carthage; 11grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, including two sets of twins; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her husband, Ernest Roggie; a son, Donald Roggie; a granddaughter, Lisa Roggie; a grandson, Erik Roggie; a sister, Loretta Calarco; and brothers, Harold, Earl and Gerald Lyndaker.

Alba was born on March 11, 1919 in Belfort, a daughter of the late John and Anna Yousey Lyndaker. She attended country school at Belfort.  On August 1, 1940 she married Ernest O. Roggie at Croghan Mennonite Church.  The couple farmed together from 1943 until 1978 on the Second Road in Carthage, retiring after 35 years, and from thence moved to Croghan.    

Alba was a charter member of Naumburg Mennonite Church, where she was active in the Riverview Ladies’ Sewing Circle, and taught Sunday School and Bible School.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and needlework.  Alba was an active volunteer at the Agape Shoppe in Watertown.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at East Road Adult Home, and the 4th Floor staff at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility for their loving care.
